On the 31st March I was invited to the Opening night of The Play that goes wrong…it was one of those nights where I felt like my life was going wrong, as it was the night before publishing and anyone that is in publishing will tell you that this really it is not a good night to do anything, other than ensure everything in the magazine is 100%. Needless to say I literally scraped myself away from my desk at the last minute, to accompany my husband who naturally came home early in hope of pre-theater wine and dinner – and then waited and waited… eeek! We dropped kids, bought sparkling water, watched the show, fetched the kids and went home to bed. I was asleep in minutes.
However in-between this not so successful evening to the Theatre ( which we both really do love) we watched this zany, funny show, where everything literally did go wrong, watching professionals play amateurs…and watching the set come apart literally at the seams – was most entertaining and the show as a whole was so bizarre, that no matter your mood, it is absolutely physically impossible not to giggle and guffaw your way through it.
THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG is a celebration of the best of live theatre… and the worst. The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society is putting on a 1920’s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does! The accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences!
You can still Book tickets and ensure you don’t miss out on this Fabulous ”The Play That Goes Wrong’ till the 30 April 2017 at the Pieter Toerien Theatre. Price: From R 100 – R 220
